A lecture I was listening to the other day by Dr. Sam Donta, Professor of Medicine Infectious Disease and Biomolecular Medicine for Boston Univ who specializes in Lyme Disease states that the pain from Lyme will usually not go away with pain medications since it is in the nerve transmission to the brain. I guess you could say not "actual" pain as in arthritis where the joints swell and deform, but "interpreted" pain. They have not found a solution, yet, although serotonin agents, such as Prozac or Zoloft may help. He also says he doesn't know what MS is anymore. He used to think it had distinct characteristics, but now it is looking very muddy and he feels safe in saying that if MS is not Lyme, it is certainly Lyme-like and, therefore, antibiotics or CS would he helpful.
