I picked this up from http://y2k.entrewave.com and have editted it slightly.

The sale price for the TDS-1 (mentioned down below) was still valid
as of March 23, 1998 (I ordered a couple of them, as mentioned in
another post of mine, and I got the sale price).

His comment wrt c.s.+blood purifier (AKA bio-electrifier)+MPG versus
a Rife device is quite debatable, but this isn't the proper forum for that.

Subject: Catching up on c.s. news

Quite a bit to catch up since January.

1. You may remember the post that talked about the oldtimer who used to
boil a 1/2 dozen silver eagles in a pyrex jug until half the liquid was
gone. He'd drink the concentrate on a regular basis and said he never got
colds or the flu. Well, I've been boiling eight .999 silver bars in
distilled water for various periods of time from 1 to 3 hours. What I
got what was the equivalent of about 2, maybe 3ppm concentration, no
matter how long I boiled it. Of course in boiling it down to 1/4 volume
I'd get a concentration of maybe 12ppm, but when I'd dilute it back up
to full volume, I'd be back to about 3ppm. So is 2 or 3ppm of any value?
Better than nothing. Especially if you have no electricity to use
   a conventional c.s. generator.

2. For those of you who want to do your own research Kent Trembly located
an inexpensive "Total Dissolved Solids" meter. Now a colloidal
suspension is technically not silver in a DISSOLVED form. However, the
meter apparently sees it as such, and the readings are in line with
another instrument (I'll describe in next paragraph.) I bought the
instrument at a sale price -- don't know if the sale price is still
valid. The meter is called the TDS-1, made by Hanna Instruments of
Rhode Island. Sale price is $14.95. Call Diane Guimont, Inside Sales,
   800-426-62876. It's a slick instrument, auto-compensates for
temperature differences. You may also want to buy the packets of
calibration standard solution so your meter will read right on the money.
(My meter was off about 15PPM out of 800PPM, which is really not very
much.) The packets will cost another $14.95. BTW, this meter does NOT
   tell you particle size.

3. Next is an instrument which you build from a magazine article. It
requires some soldering ability and some electronic knowledge. It uses
an ordinary pencil-size laser pointer (for example, that you see in all
the Damark catalogs.) You can buy the laser pointer for about $20 from
Damark, or $30 for other models (and other sources.) The rest of the
device is built from parts you buy from Radio Shack. To get the article
you buy the April 1997 (last year) of "73 Amateur Radio Today," (which
   you should subscribe to if you're planning to get a ham radio for post-y2k;
800-274-7373.) The article is titled, "Build a Colloidal Silver
Generator," but it has a section describing construction of the laser
meter. The author, Thomas Miller, describes it as a "scatter amp"
because it picks up light from the laser beam that's scattered about by
the colloidal silver particles in suspension. The intensity of the
scatter is picked up by a minature solar panel mounted below the laser
beam, and then amplified to register on the ammeter part of the device.
The interesting aspect of this arrangement is that it will, within
limits, measure only the amount of silver that is in COLLOIDAL
SUSPENSION; it will not register silver that is in SOLUTION.

The project takes about 2 days to put together after you get the parts.
It works well, although it apparently does not give linear readings on
the low end. That is to say, distilled water (which will read as 0.5 or
so on your TDS-1 meter, will read as 4PPM on your laser. However, when
you get over 5 or 6PPM it seems to be fairly accurate. For example, I
just made 12 oz. of c.s. using Mark Metcalf's setup, at 150 deg F.,
using 3 drops of saline solution (per his instructions) for 12 minutes.
It reads 11PPM on the TDS-1 and 11PPM on the laser meter. (For those
interested the current draw on Mark's c.s. generator was 5Ma at the start
and 8Ma at the end of the 12 minutes.)

One more point that Thomas brings up: do NOT use "sea salt" for your
saline solution (even tho recommended by Mark Metcalf.) It is full of
all kinds of mineral salts besides NaCl. Instead go to your supermarket
and ask for a special kind of salt, made by Morton, sold in 5 lb bags,
called "Canning, Pickling Salt." It's got NOTHING added.

BTW, I tested a bottle of HVAC I purchased from Bruce Marx
(CSProSystems), which in a fone conversation he said was "about
10-12PPM." It tested out as 8 PPM on the TDS-1, so I used that as my
standard when I "zero set" my laser meter (i.e., I set the laser to read
8 when running the test on Bruce's stuff.)

While we on the subject of the laser meter, you want to check out Thomas
   Miller's website, (www.infocom.com/~thomil/). He's a very smart young
man, and has lots of good info regarding colloidal silver and other
bio-medical devices (altho he can't call them that --- the FDA you know
--- I think he calls them Plant Growth Stimulators or some such.) One of
the ones I bought from him is a "semi-kit" of what used to be called the
"Bio-Electrifier." This is an instrument designed by Robert Beck, D.Sc.,
the same guy who designed the c.s. generators you see advertised all
   over (including Mark Metcalf's.)

According to Dr. Beck if you use the c.s. generator together with the
bio-electrifier and a third device, the MPG, or Magnetic Pulse Generator
--- you can get a similar effect in treating infections, including AIDS,
and cancer --- that you get using the Rife Machine! -- at much less
expense and complexity. Worth looking into. I will be doing that, and
hope to report on it in the coming months.

4. I tested out a higher voltage DC c.s. generator as follows (*** Don't do
this UNLESS you know all about electronics and electricity --- otherwise it
could get you killed!! ***) I ran a 115VAC line cord to a full wave bridge,
and picked off about 140VDC at the output of the bridge. I then used that
to make c.s. for 8 minutes, using distilled H2O with no salt added. The
current draw was about 90Ma. What I got was a quite muddy liquid with
lots of gross black particles that immediately settled to the bottom of
the flask, that tasted quite metallic, and gave a TDS-1 reading of 16, and
a laser reading of 1l. Why the disparity? I suspect because there must
have been a lot of stuff in there besides pure COLLOIDAL silver,
particles of all sizes, plus a lot of silver oxide coating the colloidal
   particles.

Bottom line? If all I get from that setup is the same 11PPM that I can
get with 3 nine-volt batteries (a la Mark Metcalf), why bother with all
the complications and danger. Besides which it will be hard to find
   115VAC comes y2k.

**************************************************************************

Well, that's it for this report. Keep a lookout for Kent Trembly's post
--- he might have some interesting news. Also I'm hoping he will send
me a sample of the output of his Motherlode HVAC c.s. generator, so I can
compare its TDS-1 and laser reading.

Bill
