>>The Hallelujah Health Tip
>>Issue No. 1
>>July 4, 1997
>>-------------------------------------------
>>
>>Please find below the first edition of our Hallelujah Health Tip,
>>a weekly publication which you subscribed to by e-mail. If you
>>decide not to receive this newsletter, simply send an e-mail to
>>[email protected] and we'll promptly take you off the subscriber
>>list. We do not share, swap, or sell names of health tip subscribers
>>to anyone.
>>
>>-------------------------------------------
>>
>>Hallelujah Acres Online provides the following material for
>>informational purposes only. We do not prescribe and we do not
>>diagnose. If you use the information in this file without the approval
>>of a health professional, you prescribe for yourself, which remains
>>your constitutional right, but the author(s) assume no responsibility.
>>
>>-------------------------------------------
>>
>>Welcome to the first issue of the Hallelujah Health Tip, a free e-mail
>>publication sent out every Friday by Rev. George Malkmus and all of us
>>at Hallelujah Acres.
>>
>>We dedicate this publication to health seekers around the world: to
>>the ever-growing family of men, women, and young adults who share our
>>interest in the benefits of eating a predominately uncooked,
>>plant-based diet.
>>
>>You Don't Have to Be Sick!
>>
>>The above phrase summarizes the message we teach and share at
>>Hallelujah Acres.
>>
>>We have an ambitious goal at Hallelujah Acres: to make available for
>>free to ailing people everywhere in the world the information that
>>will allow them to take charge of their own health and thus leave
>>their aches and pains behind!
>>
>>Please join us in making this goal a reality.
>>
>>With more than 20 years of experience in studying diet, nutrition, and
>>disease, Rev. Malkmus has learned that, in most instances, the human
>>body can and will correct its problems when it's treated the way God
>>made it to be treated.
>>
>>Contrary to what some medical models would have us believe, we are not
>>slaves to germs and genetics.
>>
>>Dietary and lifestyle solutions DO exist that will "cure" disease,
>>both acute and chronic.
>>
>>If we eat right, exercise each day, rest when our bodies need it, keep
>>our stress down, spend some time in the fresh air and sunshine... if
>>we do simple things like these, and if we remain consistent and
>>patient with a new lifestyle, our bodies heal themselves.
>>
>>You don't have to be sick, and every other week in this publication
>>we're going to show you how you can heal your ills, lose a lot of
>>excess weight, gain all kinds of new energy, and enjoy the peace of
>>mind that we were put on this beautiful earth to have.
>>
>>Hello, I'm Chet Day, editor of Hallelujah Acres Online and the
>>Hallelujah Health Tip, and I'll be the guy researching, consolidating,
>>and writing the natural health information that we'll deliver to your
>>e-mail box every other Friday. We'll focus on a single theme each
>>time, but we'll also have some "regular" features that we hope you'll
>>enjoy and find of use.
>>
>>For this first issue, I want to share my health story and, at the same
>>time, summarize what we teach people to do to lose weight, gain
>>energy, and heal their own bodies of whatever might ail them.
>>
>>Contrary to the naysayers who shout, "But your solution's too
>>simple--it can't be that easy," we have testimonies arriving at
>>Hallelujah Acres every day from people who are healing themselves of
>>every ailment from arthritis to prostate cancer!
>>
>>What simple solution do we offer? The Hallelujah Diet and some basic
>>lifestyle changes.
>>
>>You see, most of us get sick because our toxic bodies are starved for
>>basic nutrients. Highly-processed "foods" are making us sick and
>>killing us. If you're like I was five years ago, you eat plenty of
>>fast food, guzzle coffee and soft drinks to keep up your hectic pace,
>>and just generally feel like you're falling apart. That was me at 44
>>when I finally broke down and went to a doctor because shoulder and
>>finger pains were getting to the point where I couldn't type -- a
>>horrible situation for a writer.
>>
>>The doc examined me, offered to shoot my shoulder full of cortisone,
>>wanted to prescribe some pills for the arthritis affecting my fingers
>>(which I'd have to take for "the rest of your life"), and
>>sympathetically told me, "You may as well get used to it. This happens
>>to all of us once we hit middle age."
>>
>>Well, I wanted to hit him!
>>
>>Having all kinds of horror stories in my immediate and extended family
>>that I trace to doctors and their "cures," I rejected the doc's offer
>>of shots and pills and decided to take charge of my own health.
>>
>>So I went to a health food store in New Orleans and charged to my VISA
>>card a huge load of health books... titles on everything from
>>homeopathic remedies to Norman Walker's classic _Fresh Fruit and
>>Vegetable Juices_. Much of what I read made sense to me -- a whole lot
>>more sense than taking shots and pills for the rest of my life -- and
>>I immediately started making some major changes in my life.
>>
>>I stopped eating all forms of meat.
>>
>>I stopped drinking coffee, soft drinks, and everything else other than
>>distilled water.
>>
>>I started drinking freshly extracted carrot and vegetable juices every
>>day.
>>
>>I resumed a jogging program that I had dropped years before.
>>
>>I started going to bed at ten or eleven every night instead of reading
>>or writing way into the wee hours.
>>
>>I got so nutty about all this health stuff that I even tried to get
>>some sunshine on my body every day. And, at the time, I was one of
>>those "I like dark rooms where I can write and concentrate" sort of
>>guys.
>>
>>Amazingly, within two weeks my finger pains were completely gone.
>>Within a month I had regained full range of motion in the shoulder
>>that I thought had frozen up for good. Within three months I had
>>dropped 51 pounds of excess lard around my stomach, buttocks, and
>>thighs.
>>
>>I no longer looked like a pear with legs!
>>
>>My energy level doubled and then some. My skin softened, and I slept
>>like a rock.
>>
>>My grey hair didn't regain it's once brown shade, but, hey, you can't
>>have everything.
>>
>>Shoot, I felt the way I remembered feeling when I had been a hot shot,
>>high school tennis player who could run all day, read Melville half
>>the night, and still wake up feeling like a stick of dynamite with the
>>fuse burning!
>>
>>I tell you truly, I could NOT believe how simple it had been for me to
>>reverse my middle age health problems.
>>
>>And that reversal remains true five years later. I'm 49 as I write
>>these words, and today I feel like that teenage stick of dynamite I
>>mentioned above. Not to brag, but at the high school where I used to
>>teach, I could jog 98% of the students into the dirt. Although I try
>>not to do so, I can outwork just about everybody I know (either
>>physical or mental labor), and I can stay focused and concentrated on
>>what I'm doing for ten-twelve hours at a time without needing or
>>wanting any kind of outside stimulation to "perk me up."
>>
>>Shoot, if I got any perkier, I don't think anybody could stand being
>>around me.
>>
>>My health program? Boy, is it simple. I exercise, I drink distilled
>>water, I get sunshine and fresh air, I keep my stress level down, and
>>I'm on the Hallelujah Diet -- eating predominately uncooked fruits and
>>vegetables, having some BarleyGreen, and drinking 16-oz. of carrot
>>juice every day.
>>
>>And if you think I'm in good shape, you should see Rev. Malkmus, who
>>developed the health program that keeps me humming.
>>
>>At 63 years of age, George Malkmus can leave me in the dirt. He keeps
>>a speaking schedule that would drop most of us, and he regularly gets
>>up at four in the morning to start his work day. He has a zest for
>>life and a calling to help others that electrifies the audiences who
>>hear him and the fortunate people who get to meet him in person.
>>
>>And, oh yes, he healed himself of colon cancer back in 1972 when he
>>decided to ignore what the docs wanted him to do -- undergo surgery
>>and chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
>>
>>Instead, George Malkmus took charge of his own health. He stopped
>>putting meat and processed foods into his body. He started eating raw
>>fruits and vegetables instead, and he drank plenty of freshly
>>extracted carrot juice.
>>
>>A year later, the tumor in his colon had disappeared. And so had all
>>his other physical ailments: hemorrhoids, hypoglycemia, severe
>>allergies and sinus problems, high blood pressure, fatigue, pimples,
>>colds, flu... even body odor and dandruff were gone!
>>
>>Well, you can do this too. It's not hard to do, though it takes some
>>discipline. But the payoffs are so marvelous that once you make these
>>changes, you just can't go back to the old ways. Believe me, the
>>combination of raw foods, BarleyGreen, and freshly extracted carrot
>>juice can help people all over the world heal themselves.
>>
>>If you think a dietary and lifestyle approach sounds like it's for
>>you, you can get detailed information from our web page at
>>http:/hacres.com or if you want quick and simple details, just send an
>>e-mail to our autoresponder at [email protected] for the basics of the
>>Hallelujah Diet.

>>Since one of the key features of the Hallelujah Diet lies with
>>enjoying at least one big salad every day, this week we want to
>>feature Rhonda Malkmus' directions on...
>>
>>How to Build a Salad
>>When people come to Hallelujah Acres and eat one of our raw vegetable
>>salads, they often make the comment: This is the best salad I have
>>ever had in my life! Actually, building a salad is really quite easy
>>once you have the ingredients assembled... and it does take more than
>>iceberg lettuce and a tomato to make a salad. Here is how we do it at
>>Hallelujah Acres:
>>
>>Start with deep green leaf lettuce. (Never use iceberg lettuce... it
>>has practically no nutrition!) Make sure it is washed well and
>>completely drained. This can be accomplished by washing and loosely
>>rolling in a towel . Then place in the refrigerator still rolled in
>>the towel for a half hour or so to chill while you prepare the rest of
>>the vegetables. (Never use paper towels for drying because they are
>>coated with formaldehyde.) Use a clean dish towel to dry or store food
>>like spinach or lettuce.
>>
>>While the lettuce is crisping in the refrigerator, clean and prepare
>>the rest of the vegetables. After the vegetables have been prepared,
>>you are ready to build your salad. The first thing you do is tear your
>>crisped lettuce into small, bite sized pieces... and fill salad bowl
>>half full with the lettuce. Next, add in layers the following
>>vegetables...
>>
>>Small broccoli florets.
>>Small cauliflower florets.
>>Finely diced celery.
>>Finely diced red and/or green peppers.
>>Finely chopped sweet onion (if desired).
>>Top salad with grated carrots (California grown )
>>
>>This is how we do it, but there is no end to where your creativity can
>>take you... have fun and enjoy your own creations! And don't be afraid
>>to try new or unusual vegetables in your salads, like raw asparagus,
>>raw corn off the cob, raw cubed summer squash, raw grated sweet
>>potato, cucumbers, etc. Also, you can add sunflower seeds to your
>>salads or sprinkle with grated raw almonds. Now add your salad
>>dressing and enjoy! Your salads do not have to be boring nor bland!
>>The variety and combinations are endless. This is the salad George and
>>I share together each day, and it is the high point of our eating
>>experience. Our salads are very large and totally filling and often
>>serve as the complete meal.
>>
>>Serve with your favorite dressing but not with the Super Market
>>dressings which are full of sugar and preservatives. Most Health Food
>>stores carry a nice line of salad dressings or you can create your
>>own.
>>
>>Avocado-Tomato Dressing
>>Blend in a blender, 1 medium or 2 small ripe tomatoes with one ripe
>>avocado, adding a teaspoon (to taste) of BRAGGS LIQUID AMINO (can be
>>found in most Health Food Stores) for flavor enhancement. You can also
>>add celery to thicken if desired. Then add your favorite herbs for
>>additional flavor. (We like Parsley Patch All Purpose).
