Larry, With all due respects someone has feed you a line of "Bull" about AC power supplies. Depending on the design the amount of ripple can be next to nothing.
The best LVDC CS is make with a reversing power supply, even half wave power is ok for making CS. The "big Boys" that use 15,000 volts are working on raw AC. and make excellent CS.
