RLB. Nitric acid of sp.gr. 1.8 WILL NOT precipitate CS. The pH of CS is normally 5 to 5.5. I have added twenty drops of HNO3 to 2 cc of 12.5 ppm CS . The pH of the solution is 1. The solution still shows a strong Tyndall after 24 hours, and there is not precipitate. So if you are getting a precipitate it is not from an acid. What are all the parameters that you used to make your CS. It really is not as simple as dipping a couple of silver wires into water andturning on the juice.
