Here's the copy of what I sent to the yeast list:

When my 31 year old daughter was 8, she was carrying a tea kettle of
boiling water from one place in the kitchen to another and dropped it. The
water wound up on her left leg. She had wool pants on as it happened in
December. Her dad was home and quickly scooped her up and carried her
outside, pulled her pants down and immediately packed snow on the burn.
Even then her intense screaming continued. I had him bring her back in the
house and kept snow on it for a while.

In the meantime, I got out my Vitamin E. I always keep much of it on hand
in case of burns. I dried her leg as best I could and broke open about a
zillion capsules of vit E and smeared them all over the burn. In 15 minutes
the crying stopped and within 45 minutes she said she was not in pain. I
know that sounds crazy but I swear it's true. She was almost smiling at
that point.

Now I might mention that the vit E I used was the cheap synthetic kind. But
it worked like a dream.

We had to remove her from school for 2 weeks. We set her up on the couch so
she could sit up and do her homework which her older sister brought home
for her. At the time, we had the type of couch that was just a simple maple
frame with cushions so we could put the cardtable right above her lap with
2 legs of it going over the backs of the cushions and behind them. We also
kept her on that couch at night during that time so she wouldn't have to
try to get up the ladder to the loft.

Now this burn was 13 inches long and at the widest point about 3 to 4
inches wide. The majority of the burn was on her thigh and it went down
over her knee to about an inch under her knee. The part right above her
knee on the thigh was the worst. Coincidentally, during that time, a
registered nurse happened to visit us with a group of other people and was
convinced that one spot on that burn, about the size of a silver dollar,
was 3rd degree with the rest of it 2nd degree. The 2nd degree burns will
blister but the 3rd degree will not as the skin is gone. At least, that's
the way I understand it.

Twice a day I applied vit E to that burn. I don't remember for sure what I
used directly on the burn itself, if it was torn up sheeting or gauze or
what, but I kept something over it as much as possible and when we could we
left it exposed to the air also. I gave her vit E orally and also plently
of vit C to prevent infection. It's hard to remember all the little things
I did and wish I would have written it down at the time.

In those 2 weeks this little girl not once complained of pain or any other
sensation. She healed beautifully and all that was left after that was a
pink area where the burn had been. It wasn't long before even that went
away and today she can wear shorts in the summer. There is no scarring
whatsoever. No one can tell the difference between her 2 legs no matter how
closely they look. The only time you can see anything at all is if she gets
a suntan. Then the burn area looks just very faintly purple. It's so faint
that even when it's pointed out to people it's hard to see.

I'm convinced that if we had sought mainstream medical attention that she
would have been scarred for life, and in pain during the healing also. I'm
also sure that if I told a doctor about it that he would have warned me
about all the possible dire consequences that could have happened by not
seeking "proper" medical attention. So I have never told any medical
professional about this. Even then, probably instead of congratulating us
on a job well done, he would have said we were just plain lucky and would
certainly not recommend doing it again if need be. But we were very
careful. We watched closely for signs of infection and took her temp twice
a day.

This sure is a long post but it may help someone some day. Oh, I might
mention that years ago, (when I used to go to doctors) that a doctor had to
break a blood vessel in my eye. (don't ask, it's another long story and not
relevant) He gave me eyedrops to prevent infection but I also, in between
eyedrop applications, applied vit E 3 or 4 times a day for a couple weeks.
When I went back to him he looked in my eye with his magnifier thing and
then he looked again. I asked him if something was wrong. He said no, not
at all. It was just that he couldn't find any evidence of scar tissue
whatsoever. He thought that was amazing. I just smiled :-)
