John, I suspect you're looking for a complex reason for the diarrhea when it's more than likely a very simple one - dieoff. Even though the problem you're trying to cure is an extremity of the body, your father could very well have had some pathogen in his intestines that is being eliminated. He may do much better when that process is over. It would be easier for him if he wasn't taking quite so much of it. You're right, though, to attack this from both angles - internally and externally. Let us know how he does.
