Sharon, Re: your "sparklies." I have seen a lot of *lint* get into my CS sometimes, especially if I use a facial tissue instead of a paper napkin for wiping off my electrodes. Try "filtering" some plain water and see if anything is coming off the paper towel.
Some suggest using drip coffee filters, of the unbleached variety. They don't seem to release fibers and, if unbleached, won't have the chemical additives (flavor enhancers) some name brand coffee filters have in them.
