Hello Again Marshall; I have tried HNO3 and Phosphoris acid to put the colloids in to an ionic stage in order to measure the true amount of silver in the sample. I have not yet tried to boil the CS and HNO3 to get rid of the collidal suspension but that is on the list.
So when we say the CS is 5 ppm we really do not know how much is ionic an how much is colloidal. My initial test was with a 12 ppm as normally measured. I added HNO3 to get a pH of +2 then nuetralized it to 7 and run the spect. test. The ppm now measured 17 and there was still a Tyndall effect visible. So how much is ionic and how much is colloidal???? Robert -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
