This is partly true. Their main objective is to verify that you have nothing that is ferromagnetic, which will get jerked right out under the strong aligning magnetic field. Large pieces of metal can also get a reactive force in the opposite direction due to eddy currents during the pulses. This force is much smaller unless the pieces are very large and highly conductive. They also can heat from the eddy currents. ( Of course this would not be a problem with any silver accumulation since the particles will be microscopic. Such things as rings on the fingers can heat up and burn you if not taken off.) ***Must be true...I had a cat scan yesteday and the woman made it a point to remind me to check if I had any metals on..including things like denture partials. I presume that metals can mess up the results of the tests...and I think that might be what the original message was about...not about fillings being pulled from the head...as has been suggested. V.
