The Great Raid does not fit.
There might have been approx 5000 prisoners go thru this camp in the years my cousin was there.
Jim sr. was in about 6 and Marie about 4.5 yrs.
The rescue was by an Amphibious group as the camp was about 16 miles inland from the sea.The camp main gate was flattened by a tank followed by US infantry. Then a GI [ with a Texas drawl ] came out in front of the tank and said in a loud voice"Where are all these yere 'muricans we're supposed to be a-rescuin?
My cousin told me this long before I saw the show.
During all this the prisoners were huddled in the huts and bullets were flying thick and fast. There is a lot of story re my cousin and her husband and son about their capture and imprisonment which was not in the movie though. Harold
