Yes, apparently the soil does need boron, but in very small amounts.  So it 
is not a great idea to broadcast it all over, as that is too  much.  The 
quantity is hardly any hardly ever.

That's interesting because from the previous posts I was thinking it may
be a good idea to dissolve borax in water and spray it over the garden
so that the veggies will come to be rich in boron. But if it burns grass
that may not be such a good idea??
