It sounds more like a tick.  There are ticks that when on the dog, will 
basically make it almost paralyzed.  I'd get out the tweezers and go a hunting 
for ticks!  As soon as the tick is removed, the dog will be mobile again.

won't move for him either.   Someone said it could be MS.  I read on this list

also read that dmso will help regrow the mylein.   This is a sweet dog, and I 
really hate to lose him....
