To me this would mean that this is not good for me, and I would stop taking
it.

Then you are doing yourself a disservice, as for many conditions, in order to fully detox at a rate whereby you will experience zero detox symptoms (of course, this doesn't count if you're using something like the charcoal/clay slurries to counteract said symptoms) it would take many more years than you have to live...

I have never really gone with this 'herx' reaction because I always remember when my husband was ill with a nervous breakdown, and they kept on giving him different anti-depressants.

There is a world of difference between a cleansing reaction (your body feeling a temporary unwellness because some stored toxins got dumped out of fat cells or your liver into your bloodstream or bowels on their way out of your body), and a toxic reaction to something you ingest, which is what your husband was experiencing.

If you cannot see the difference, then you will either have to find some way to let go of your dogmatic beliefs, or failt to get well (assuming you are not already detoxed and are healthy).

Each one made him feel worse than the one before and he just refused
to take them. The doctors said that he would feel better if he would
only let his body 'get used' to the medications in six to eight
weeks. To me this is wrong, and the body is telling you quite clearly
that this is wrong. As it turns out, with all the bad press for
Prozac and the like, I think my husbands body was quite right!

Again - comparing toxic symptoms from taking drugs, to cleansing reactions from fasting or taking superfoods or ozone or some other therapy that stimulates your body to release stored toxins in order to eliminate them is just plain ignorant (no offense intended, even though most people do take offense whenever that word is used)...

The only 'bad' form of ignorance is *deliberate* ignorance.
