This is also how I found out what was bothering me. Wheat, barley, spelt, and also cooked tomatoes shut down peristalsis in my intestines. I've been avoiding most carbs for years on the Zone diet but recently have been trying the Budwig diet and added back millet, buckwheat, rice, and soon quinoa. I was very surprised to find a beneficial effect from eating these grains on my elimination processes. I also can eat oats. The Budwig protocol claims to help asthma, arthritis, heart disease and cancer.
