Margie; When a sunbeam shines into a darkened room and we can see the dust moats floating in the air that is what is called the Tyndall Effect.
When you shine a laser beam or narrow flashlight bean through a colloid you will see a beam of light in the solution. Water does not show a beam as it is not a colloidial suspension.
