Hi David,
I assume you are saying that soil in NZ is deficient in selenium. For
babies still drinking from Mom's dairy, of course, then I am sure she
is careful to eat a good diet. Brazil nuts are said to have lots of
selenium- people here have said 2 a day if you take lots of cs. I am
sure there are other food sources, you could look it up. Maybe nuts are
imported, so those might work. They can be ground in a small mill or
maybe even a baby food grinder for the 2 year old, and mixed into other
things, like muffins, or even applesauce.
According to what I have read, small amounts of silver are easily
processed by the body's normal mechanisms. I am not sure what this
means for babies. But if they can process more toxic antibiotics ( some
are more so than others) when necessary, I might prefer the cs to
those. Hopefully your baby will stay well, and need nothing more than
good milk.

Thanks Kathryn.
I live in New Zealand. That's why I mentioned the lack of Selenium
in our diets.
It's not a concern for me, because I get plenty from my supplements.
On the other hand, my daughter is still too young to be taking
supplements.

Why do you think their diet is deficient in selenium? Any newborn
is probably best off with her mother's milk, in any case ( just my
opinion, unless there is some infection that needs treating). Others
have said they use it to treat children.
