I was reading the link on CS by Sloan Kettering, and it says there that the silver:

"It actually denatures proteins by binding to their reactive groups. It can inactivate some enzymes by forming hemisilver sulfides with sulfhydryl groups of the enzymes (1). Silver when taken orally can interact with and reduce the effectiveness of tetracycline, quinolone, and penicillamine."

Now, when you want to render something non- allergenic, you have to denature it's proteins by some means. Tannic acid will do this, and some other things, maybe the oxidizers do this. I conclude that the silver may render treated objects as non- allergenic.

Part of the whole problem of toxin mediated illness is due to a cycle of inflamatory cytokines, and I thought they were enzymes. If so, then the silver may actually help treat toxin mediated illness as well. I don't know the chemical make up of the toxins, but I may have it in a book here- I am not sure if they are sulfer based or not.

Most antibiotics are made from molds and mold toxins, definitely penicillin & tetracycline. So I am thinking that when it reduces the effectiveness of some antibiotics, this indicates that it also interferes with other toxins produced by various molds that may be affecting us.

Is this correct thinking? Or am I way off here?

"Mechanism of Action
Silver is unstable in suspension form and can bind to proteins. Silver compounds form hemisilver sulfides with sulfhydryl groups that leads to inactivation of enzymes. Silver also has the ability to bind amino, carboxyl, phosphate and imidazole groups (1). Studies have shown that silver accumulates in rat liver and binds with various tissues and basal membranes. It also affects the activities of lactate dehydrogenase and glutathione peroxidase and the peroxidation of membrane lipids (4)."

Since I am no biologist or even very good at it, I am not sure what the implications are of that statement (binding to aminos, etc) , but this sounds like a good thing to me, not a bad thing. And since I take it by holding it in the mouth, I am hoping it combines and becomes a more bioavailable form as it becomes absorbed. That is the whole point.
