8 years ago I successfully treated 5 children with tea tree oil for lice. I used it in the hair, wash etc. and combed it relentlessly through my daughters' long thick hair and shaved the boys heads when buzz cuts were popular thank goodness. But, I wondered if there was a specific manufactured repellent for going into endemic areas of ticks.
