Ried, I sent the email about catnip and coconut oil but the coconut oil we have doesn't smell. We also use the following on our horses mixed in water in a sprayer. You have to shake it because as you know oil and water won't stay mixed. We use a lot of essential oils around here.
Mosquito repel Use all or any of the following natural plant oils as natural mosquito repellents mixed in sprayer with water: o Lemon Eucalyptus Oil o Citronella Oil o Cinnamon Oil o Rosemary Oil o Peppermint Oil ----- Original Message ----- From: Reid Harvey<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 01, 2008 10:30 AM Subject: CS>catnip oil - coconut oil and lemon tea tree oil Hi, Thanks for all the good input on catnip as a mosquito repellant, and I want to make sure that I understand how to put this together. What I'm hearing is that a little catnip oil should be mixed with a much bigger amount of coconut oil. Then, lemon tea tree oil or lavender oil can be mixed in, in order to make the smell pleasant. I will fool around with quantities used, but would appreciate some suggestions on this. For one thing I'm afraid that the coconut oil would overcome the catnip oil, reducing its effectiveness. I'm thinking that the catnip oil must be very potent indeed. What about just using a really small amount of coconut oil, making up the mix, then rubbing on, even putting this on a hanky or some clothing? Any additional observations will be appreciated, and I believe I'm near the answers.
