Call up your local water utility and get a copy of the lab report of
your water quality.  Will be on-line if they are big enough...
 
The TDS reading is sure to be quite high, I'm sure.  Lots of dissolved
solids, they may even add some minerals.

Hi all, just a question.  I've been having fun with the TDS meter and
decided to dip it into our tap water.  The reading was 282 can anyone
tell me if this is good or bad, or is it impossible to say what the
