This is an update on my vitamin D level. In January, it was found to be 14. I
immediately started on 1,000 mg vitamin D twice a day and once the weather
warmed up in March, I laid out in the sun three times a week between 10 and 3
for 20 to 25 minutes. I was getting another 1,000 mg in the multi-vitamin which
I started taking regularly. I also started taking Nordic Naturals fish oil
twice every day and 1,000 mg biotin every other day and took several other
supplements just a few times a week. In July, the Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy test
gave back the results of 55 which is perfect. I've backed off somewhat in
lying in the sun so my level doesn't go up any higher, which would not be good.
I am taking 1,000 mg vitamin D (plus the twelve hundred mg in my multi-vitamin
and Bone Assure) until cool weather at which time I might go back on the second
1,000mg capsule per day. I am sorry to report that there has been no
improvement in my joint pain or the
autoimmune gum problem. My hair became a little thicker and my nails
stronger, but still grooved and the cuticles are ragged looking.
Another interesting thing on the lab results: The TSH in July 2007 was 2.87
(with the ref. range being .30 to 5.00). July of 2008 the TSH was 0.45. A
little over a year ago, I started taking one Iodoral (iodine) tablet per day,
and after several months, I cut that down to a 1/2 pill per day. I'm not sure
how to intrepret what's going on with that. I've never been out of the normal
range.
