Tom, I suspect this is really a personal decision. There is no way of telling what that extra 0.9% impurity is. I first used DMSO when 99% was the best you could get and had no problems. Recently, I got some at a health food store and 99% was the best they had so I bought and used that. But I try to use 99.9% when I can. - Steve
