Using a DC output, the silver will plate out.

I think maybe "white gold" electrodes would be the best bet...and "piggyback" gold off the electrodes as the silver ionizes the alloys lattice structure away. There are several alloys that qualify, so make sure to get the one that's only silver and gold, although a bit of copper probably won't hurt anything...but might shorten the shelf life.

The other guy uses baking soda as the electrolyte.
 I'm not seeing much reference to gold carbonate.

some portion of the gold inactive.  Do you think using CS would work ok
