The meter in the pictures is a real cheapo. Here is the URL:
   Yes, Cheap is good sometimes.  However I still prefer and use  Beckman and Fluke,  simply  because I have used them for years.

 The scales on the meter are impressive.

DC-A: 0-200µ A-2000µ A-20mA-200mA ;
Resistance: 0-200-2000-20K-200K-2000K ohm;
DC-V: 0-200mV-2000mV-20V-200V-1000V ;
AC-V: 0-200-750V

These have a DC current range, but I decided not to use it in the instructions. I find that having a Multimeter left on the current range will invariably lead to a person blowing a fuse , which, in the ELcheapos, would be impossible to find.

  Funny, but true, true indeed.

   In the better meters, the fuse is very easy to find and change.

 And I suspect that this does not bother the manufacturers, as they end up selling more of the them.

   Hard to believe the price,  Amazing.

Instead, I use a one K resistor and the two volt range of DC voltage measurement. The resulting reading we'll be in microamps.

  Yes,  the principle of the meter shunt.   Easy, Cheap, and Effective, works with any meter, and no fuse to blow, ..... usually.

I always change the lead from the current plug and the scale, ........ immediately.
