I found a homemade enteric coating.
Naturally only food quality ingredients should be used.
It consists of using shellac flakes dissolved in ethanol to coat a gel
capsule with a sprayer. The shellac will dissolve in the alkaline
conditions of the lower intestine but not the acidic stomach.
Shellac apparently is not only a fine wood varnish but is non toxic as
it is produced by a insect for cocooning and is used on supermarket
fruit along with wax as well as the pharmacuetical industry.

Subject: CS>Enteric coating

Is there any way to simply apply an enteric coating to an existing pill
or capsule?

If possible, this could save big bucks...
