Thanks very much for all the suggestions. The hives are still retreating; I'm really not sure what caused them. For now I'm doing the topical use of the Brooks Bradley mix more carefully; i.e. shower first, apply, then wait 10 minutes and shower again. Also, I'm using the nasal spray a bit less often -- like 3 times per day. Maybe I was just going too fast...
The problem doesn't appear to have been caused by sensitivity to DMSO or glycerine, as far as I can tell, and I'm careful to use only natural laundry products, no fabic softener, and of course only use the double rinse cycle. Someone suggested the "godzilla", but with a heart murmer and leaky valve I don't know if that's really such a good idea... I may try a Clark zapper, though.
