Thank you Craig and Frank for your responses. I know that chlorine, fluorine and iodine are halogens therefore the iodine can be displaced by the other two and cause thyroid problems. So, yes, iodine is a good preventative.
In my research, I've discovered that colloids of silver and gold may offer another solution to the fluoride as in freon. As you may know fluoride is found in some pharmaceuticals, dentistry treatments, toothpastes, water systems and more mentioned here: "...high-octane gasoline, smelt key metals such as aluminum, make computer circuit boards, pesticides, ski wax, refrigerant gases, Teflon, plastic, carpets, water-proof clothing, etched glass, bricks and ceramics and numerous pharmaceutical drugs, such as Prozac and Cipro. One of fluoride's biggest users is the fertilizer industry, which supplies fluorosilic acid, a raw industrial byproduct retrieved from factory smokestacks, to municipal water plants across the country. " from: http://archive.boulderweekly.com/110404/hygeia.html More interesting information about fluoride is Christopher Bryson's book "The Fluoride Deception". After reading about fluoride gas, I realized that when it is heated, it becomes more dangerous. So if your leaking refrigerant or freon gas unit is stored near a heater of some kind it could become quite dangerous to unknowing people. Fluoride also becomes a superior carrier into the brain when mixed with aluminum (teflon). There's much more information than I can list. I'm glad to know that colloidal silver can save the day on this situation too.
