I imagine you've been over this all before with Ken, sol, but a few
questions:
Can you pre-boil your feed water for a while before putting it in the
distiller, so as to drive off any volatiles with lower boiling points?
Hi MIke,
Never tried that. Perhaps mistakenly, I felt that pre-boiling in a
cooking pot might just add contaminants? But if it is only volatiles
that are the problem any added garbage would distill out right? Hmmm.
I'll try that.
Or is there a way to vent the vapor for a while before you start
collecting?
Tried that, it actually resulted in HIGHER uS water after actual
distilling. I remember posting about it at the time and was told that
was impossible, but it happened more than once. But I only let it boil
uncovered for around 5 minutes? It has been probably around 6 years
since I tried it, so I will try that again.
Or just throw out the first bits of water collected?
That didn't make any difference either, or not enough to matter, however
as above it has been years so I'll try that again too.
Separate the output into a number of different jars while the distiller
is going and see if the conductivity changes from one part of the run
to another?
Ah, now that is a new to me idea! I'll try that too, it would certainly
be worth knowing.
Thanks a lot!
