Weel, like I said, my sons both had this problem. You know the inner ear is connected to the throat, so when the tubes (ducts, whatever) get swollen it blocks the normal drainage, so an infection can get started inside there, behind the eardrum. When the swelling gets too bad, the eardrum ruptures to allow the pus out. It will grow back. It is extremely important to keep everything out of your ears until the drum is healed up. Except for a sterile solution, and cs might be ok, use your own judgement. In my sons, the infections became resistant to all antibiotics, so we had to tough it out. I switched to a homeopath at that time, who was also an MD. He helped me get them through that. I did not give them antibiotics after that. And we had to go after the yeast which had gotten well established from the many rounds of antibiotics, of course.

Sigh. Now I know better than to go along with all that, but I was a young mom and didn't know any better. Hope yours clears up fast.

Went to ENT yesterday. I thought I had my ear infections cleared up but they started draining again from my middle ear thru the holes in both ear drums. It is a bacterial/fungus infection. Needless to say I am disappointed as I thought the CS had that cleared it up but it did not work this time. No sign of yeast infection so perhaps the CS has cleared that up. Suppose there are little nooks and crannies in my inter ears where some of the infection can hide and lay dormant and then flare up again. I now have a special powder compound to spray in my ears for bacteria and fungus. Hope that does it, as I have been fighting one infection or another since fall of 2007. Has anyone else ever run into any problems like this??? I thank all who have responded to my problems.
