sol,
As I've stated many times, you can prevent reinfection with the use of a
microelectrical direct current (1.5 - 6 volts). The manual or baby Godzilla
is such a device... join microelectricitygermkiller group on Yahoo for more
info. It worked like a charm for me twice for infected roots.... the mild
electrical current kills the bacteria in the root almost instantly. I
bought a device made by a fellow named "V" and it's got an ampmeter to let
you adjust the intensity of the energy. It's worth it's weight in gold as
far as I'm concerned.

It doesn't help now, but I'm really quite surprised they didn't warn you
that it was going to be a very difficult extraction. I'd have thought they
could see the roots attached to the bone in the x-rays.
I'm sorry this turned out so badly for you. Extraction is what I would
have chosen.
Hopefully it will all heal up fine, and the pain will be gone soon.
Speaking as one who has a whole bunch of root canals, I can tell you they
are not ideal either, and neither are they always painless. 3 of my root
canals had to have apicoectomies as they re-infected.

The pain in my bones, teeth and gums does not subside. The right jaw now
hangs lower. This has totally affected my strenghth and outlook. The tears
keep mounting.I depended on that tooth for eating all the healthy food
and now I don't even want to look at food cause I can't consume it. To
put prosthetics and artifical materials permantently in my body will not
enhance my immune system and does nothing for me now! On examining the
large extracted tooth it was clear the infection was in the pulp but the
roots looked healthy and strong. I only wish I could of been more
informed of the issues with extraction. I now know a well done root canal
would of been a wiser choice and less trauma. I wish I never read the
negative info. I spent a month trying to save my tooth to ultimatley
suffer worse than when I had the infection.
