There's a marvellous SF book by Donald Kingsbury 'Geta'. I believe it was called 'Courtship Rites' in America about an energy poor planet. Man has colonised it in the distant past it is not really suitable for sustaining human life. It's indigenous plants and animals cannot be eaten so are 'profane' and the only flesh available is human, so cannibalism has become a sacred ritual. It talks about eating unwanted babies but doesn't mention what the flesh tastes like. It really is a fascinating book about the kind of society that could grow up. it was always one of my favourites.
