Hi everyone. As most of you know, I deal with pet rescue & I have an important message for you that I really would like to have to read & pass on to anyone who will listen. Dog fighting is wrong. Cock fighting is wrong. Michael Vick was wrong for promoting the fights. He has served his time & is being released from prison today. The NFL is standing by their decision to prevent him from playing pro football again. But another organization has welcomed him with open arms. Humane Society of the US... (Commonly referred to as the Humane Society ... NOT to be confused with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ASPCA) The HSUS is a powerful, cash-funded organization that is aligned with PETA, a group which has publicly stated that their mission goal is to eliminate companion animals & all "slavery" of another species for our use.. including meat, leather etc. Both organizations are very adept at putting a good spin on all they do so that you will send your dollars to them. BUT BEWARE. Those dollars are being used to change laws & make it more difficult for you, as a pet owner or owner of a service animal, to have the right to own that animal. The HSUS has its latest campaign all planned. Michael Vick will speak on their behalf. He is going to talk AGAINST dog fighting & other forms of animal cruelty. Listen to him. Know that the message is his spreading is a good message. Animal cruelty is WRONG. But filter his message carefully. Do not open your wallet to HSUS. Do get involved in your local rescue group or public shelter. DO support them financially & with your volunteer time. Do NOT let HSUS add you to their mailing list & do NOT allow them or PETA to provide free coloring books & magazines to your children or your schools. That literature is filled with information on how mommy & daddy are not nice to the animals because they eat meat, etc. Questions? Feel free to ask.
