Hi Neville,

There is an odd thing about tea...I have found out that the tea plant is a great concentrator of fluoride, one of the best...probably has nothing to do with kidney stones, but I have stopped drinking it because of the impact of fluoride on iodine levels.

I have been doing high dosages of iodine supplementation and found that when I drank tea, it made me feel crappy:)

Maybe someone else can make the connection:)

Regards,

Craig

OK Craig, no worries, the reason I asked is cos my father suffered with this problem from when he was 17 til after retirement and a specialist told him on one occasion that of all the people he sees regarding kidney stones the majority had been tea drinkers. His observations over many years treating patients for stones indicated that tea drinkers appeared get stones more than coffee drinkers. The old man was however a fairly good tea drinker for most of his life (as I am with coffee <g>). He also assured him that he was not drawing any conclusions from his observations but he could not ignore the percentages of tea drinkers as opposed to coffee drinkers and hypothesised that perhaps tea drinkers may be more susceptible to this problem. Cheers N.
