The skin normally maintains an acid pH to prevent unfriendly bacteria
growth. If you use baking soda, it will take the pH alkaline, which
will allow unfriendly bacteria to grow, and those can cause a rash.
Stop the soda, the skin goes back acid and kills the bacteria, and
all is well again. Use of the soda after that causes no problem until
an unfriendly bacteria can repopulate again.
