Hello all, I've butted into a few conversations but have yet to display the manners to introduce myself. My name is Sam Earle and I'm an editor for a global electronic news provider. My background's in ink journalism, political PR, marketing, weekly newspaper ownership, and a passion for knowledge of history, finance, spirit, space, life, energy, matter and time. Very little formal education (community college dropout) but a broad range of self-education.
I've been mostly lurking, soaking up the wisdom, experience and opinions of the old-timers on this list and I'm well impressed with your attitudes and expertise. Thank you for being here and for being willing to share. I have a key question for anyone who has an inkling of an answer: What is the chemistry/physiology/electrical theory or in other words the fundamental action in silver's killing of microbes, and how does this differ, if at all, with its interaction with more complex life forms such as mammals (us, the dog, etc.)? Has anyone done the lab work, or read the lab reports, that elucidates these details? This is not a question founded in skepticism but in pure curiosity. I have just built my first cs generator, thanks to whoever posted the www.homehealthresource.com url and the diagram there, which was similar to but more elegant than the one posted by a silverlist member. My contraption (which I wouldn't want to attempt to take on an airplane - I already look too much like Ted Kosinsky - produced 1.5 quarts of what appears to be a satisfactory cs mix, based on a flashlight Tyndall test and the telltale taste, as well as the absence of sediment or yellowing. Now I'm playing with it to see what it'll do; first on the list is the moldy bread trick (thanks for that one!), though of course I'm slurping it and washing with it and brushing my teeth with it to form an experiental feel for it too. So I'm not a show-me skeptic. Just wanted to make that clear. I've learned to follow intuition and it's been consistently better than pharma/biolab discoveries and FDA pronouncements, including its success in leading me to this list. But I'd love to know the hard, reductionist facts if there are any. Blathered enough. Answers to my key question eagerly awaited.
