I got plans for making my own CS genrtr. off the Net. It consists of 3, 9volt batteries in series (27 VDC supply) with a battery adapter split in two with one end going from the battery supply to an alligator clip and the same with the other except it has a 28volt, 40milliamp bulb and socket there which was supposed to prevent an excess of current flow. I used a Engelhard, Troy .999 fine silver coin and cut it into 4 equal strips. I used the two longest strips (the 2 from the centermost part of the coin) and attached my clips to it. Then suspended in the distilled water about one inch apart for the recommended 1 1/2 hours. Now my questions: 1. One place in the instructions said to use 8 oz of water, which I did; while elsewhere said a quart of water. It was supposed to yield 7.5 ppm solution. Which amount would probably be correct?
2. My resulting batch is sort of gray in color. It can't really be called 'golden' or 'brown'. Is this normal? And there was a gray sludge on the bottom of the glass when I finished. Is this normal or a "bad" indication? 3. I have a batch going now with a quart of distilled water. Can the first batch be used as a 'starter' for another batch? I just found this List last night. I like most of what I've read so far and am looking forward to learning about and using CS for myself, my family and friends! Thanx.....W.T.
