Hi Listers,
Here is an excerpt from a long letter my sister sent me after a family
reunion last week. It was in Iowa, and will point out that the Y2K
phenomena usually happens when the computer does its fiscal year turn
over. Most gov computers will do the fiscal turnover in October, so
watch for funny things to happen at that time.
-----------
> A funny, we stayed at the Comfort Inn in Fremont, but day after we
> checked in, we came back from Yvonne's and the card key wouldn't work for
> the outside door. Walked around to main entrance to get to our room, and
> the card wouldn't work on our room door either. Mom's room didn't work,
> nor did another man across the hall who was trying to get in his room.
> Everyone in the motel was locked out of their rooms, as none of the card
> keys worked. The manager had to open the doors with a regular key
> finally. Turns out their computer somehow re-set itself to Jan. 1, l900.
> Hoo boy, talk about Y2K problems, but a little early. We also stayed at
> a Comfort Inn the last night at the airport in Des Moines. John went to
> get our luggage while I went up to the room to open it up. I was given a
> card key for room 309, which I opened, only to find a family occupying
> the room. Boy, was I taken aback to find people in that room. Luckily,
> no one in bed or making love, ha ha. Next day, Mom said twice during the
> night, people opened her door with a card key, but she had the deadbolt on.
-----------
Things like this are not dangerous but annoying all the same. Keep your
eyes open and expect anything. :-)
I always take my silver making kit with me everywhere I go, just in
case.
Bless you Bob Lee
