Well, I had not seen any recommended dosages, and had read that 15 minutes in the noon sun will produce 40,000 units, and that once you have that amount the conversion shuts down. So I figured that if I got to 50% of what the sun produces, it should offer me pretty good protection, and still be 50% below any possible toxic level. I could be off base. I was surprised to see others are taking about 1/5 that amount, so I may back down (well actually since the capsules are 5,000 each, I cannot back down to below that amount until I get some lower dosage ones).

Here is information on the safe levels of vitamin D: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervitaminosis_D

Are you dividing your dose or taking it all at the same time?

I have not heard of anyone taking 20,000 iu? Is that an idea
you just decided to try or did hear of it somewhere? Just
curious.
