Hello Katarina.
We have not conducted any body mass/dosage-related
studies for comparing effectivity in dogs versus human beings. However,
our general observations indicate that almost "any" therapeutically
effective CS dosage will cause some reduction in intestinal flora
populations. This is not as consequential as might, at first
examination, be suspected......as the beneficial bacteria populations
(normally) found in the gut are more than numerous enough to perform
their duties quite easily. Because there is little or no long-term
residual effect from CS----in the gut---bacterial populations
will.....in the vast majority of cases.....re-establish themselves
without any outside influences; unless there is a residual contravening
condition remaining in the gut environment. Are you SURE of your
information relating to the continuing acidophilus absence in the
stool. If this be the case, I would be inclined to suspect some
other....as yet unidentified condition/circumstance as the causative
agency-----if, indeed, what you relate is the actual fact.
We have never experienced a case---from among our entire
catalog of volunteers---where we were unable to re-establish the
friendly flora in a very short time.........after we had neutralized
undesireable pathogens found within the alimentary tract. I apologize
for not being able to offer more definitive conclusions and research
data, but we just do not possess vernierized data in this area.
Sincerely. Brooks Bradley.

Hi Brooks,
Thanks so much for your post on the CS experiments and humans. Also the info
about water is fascinating and very important.
As a candida sufferer (ugh) who is cionsidering using CS to treat it, I'm
obviously very interested in issues of how cs affects friendly flora. I have
found it very difficult to replace friendly flora after the antibiotics that
gave me - and the antifungals, mostly natural, which I have used to treat it.
Despite long term consumption of hight quality acidophilus, I still test as
having zero acidophilus in my stool. I'm trying a new enteric coated
acidophilus now and we'll see if it works - but you can see why I am
interested in the info on cs and friendly flora.
It seemed that in your study on dogs the friendly flora was reduced at a
relatively lower doseage of cs than in the human studies. Have you done any
studies that showed the highest dose's of cs that one could take without
affecting the friendly flora?
Thanks so much for all your wonderful information.
Take care,
Katarina
