Transformers provide AC, not DC. If you are not rectifying the current,
you will require around 8,000 volts to make any significant EIS. If the
transformer is indeed DC but only 6 volts, it can take a very long time
for any significant current to start moving. I would recommend 30 VDC
and current limiting to 1 mA per square inch of active anode.

I am attempting to make a batch of CS but having little (NO) success.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, maybe the power supply?
Silver provided by 2 .999 pure US dollar coins (recent vintage - not
the old coin silver kind)
2 quarts distilled water
aquarium pump to keep things moving.
And, the power supply is a transformer with the plug removed and
leads attached to the silver rounds. It provides 6V of direct
current at 2000 ma.
I have run this setup for about 16 hours, but the water still reads to
show 1 ppm.
I'm assuming I need to use a different power supply. Suggestions?
Thanks. Steve Grover
