I didn't know there were so many available. For now, why not go with mail-archive? They are the easiest to set up and they would do all the indexing and threading for you. This would get the archives back online faster and with less hassle than any of the alternatives. You could continue looking at other ways of setting it up, and when you found the perfect one, simply transfer everything to the new service. If something didn't work right, we would have the mail-archive to fall back on until the dust settles. I agree with you that exposing the poster's email address in the reply button is not a very good idea. This would allow anyone to masquerade as one of the group, and forge someone's name and email address. They could send an email to a victim along the lines of "Hi Dave, I've studied this and I think you are wrong. Here's my data." Except the pdf file loads a rootkit that takes over Dave's computer, strips his bank accounts and credit card resources, and sends trojan emails to everyone in Dave's address book. Computer crime is big business, and I have received similar emails from this list and other email forums that attempt to do the same. But when you receive a gif that has the letters "MZ" in the header instead of "GIF", you know something is not right. I sent an email to mail-archive describing the above attack. They were going to post it to gossip to answer it, but I haven't seen it yet. But thanks for taking a look at them. I hope your decision is favorable so we can start working with the archives again. That would be great! Best Regards, Mike M. -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver.
