Marshall, 
She doesn't step into any water dishes; but the few times only I put clay on 
her paws as a newbie with clay.  Right now my main area concentrating on is 
skin including legs, without paws....there is enough to deal with here as 
starter..thanks tons....

Since it is on the paws, maybe the dog is stepping into the water dish.  That 
would color the entire hair from end to end.
