Has it been determined if it is type I or II yet?

Looking for any info anyone has

The following is speculation by me, making logical connections between separate pieces of info. There is no guarantee it is valuable...

There is at least one theory about the cause of Type ! diabetes that classifies it as an autoimmune disease. For whatever reason, your son's immune system has been activated against the B-cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. By the time you notice a problem most or all are possibly destroyed. If this is true, then it stands to reason that if you can arrest and/or reverse the process it could save or even restore some insulin production.

To that end, you should consider Brooks Bradley's several posts on Cetyl-myristoleate (CMO) as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. The following post from our archives mentions the relevance of CMO in addressing the immune response:

You will need to identify a good source of CMO that people have used successfully, as well as determine the recommended dose from other posts by Brooks, both of which I'm sure other members will be able to produce more ably than I seem to be able to right now.

I suspect you would be able to administer a course of CMO to your son without interfereing with any other aspects of his treatment, at least once he's been stabilized.

It is possible that time is of the essence. I know of no trials of this protocol to address type 1 diabetes, and it is not known whether the body can regenerate B-cells once they've all been destroyed.

In that regard, I've also read recently of adult stem cell research into B-cell regeneration that might be promising, once the attacking immune response has been eliminated.

I wish you success in your research and the best possible outcome for your family.

Peace,

Mike D.
