In the late 90's, Dr. Higa/EM established an office of information here in
our city. I went there purchased his book (interesting story of its
development and his angle on beneficial bacteria thereby avoiding toxic
chemicals in agriculture) and for products I went to a small seed store
where they had arranged to retail his products. The EM was mixed with
molasses when needed to activate and would the mixture/batch would be good
for a few weeks, if I recalled. Our zoo was using in its compost pile mixed
with animal waste to reduce the smell in their area. At least one hotel was
using it in their huge pond where exotic birds swam to keep the water
clean. Of course, it was being used by small organic farmers abd getting
great results. The representative used it on his glasses to clean the
lens. Because of its high antioxidant content people were drinking it
diluted for health, although that was off the record, as told to me by the
seed company. They, then, got into trouble, I believe, with the FDA who
claimed their labeling was incorrect and it wasn't about their product but
compliance with US laws on other issues. Now I see them in stores with
plastic bottles and know why, thanks to Mr. Bradley reporting that another
company has bought them out.
