Unfortunately for Australians with ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia who wish to trial
it, naltrexone -- low-dose or otherwise -- is currently prescribed
solely at the discretion of the consulting doctor

Naltrexone, in orally-administered tablet form, is currently used in
Australia and is listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for the
treatment of alcoholism.

The reports says that a "preliminary study shows that low-dose
naltrexone may be an effective, low-cost treatment for Fibromyalgia."
Elsewhere, Maija Haavisto <http://www.fiikus.net/?resume>, a Finnish
ME/CFS patient, has taken low-
dose naltrexone for her ME/CFS and reports positive results. She details
her experiences here: http://www.fiikus.net/?cfs Lots of articles / links

http://www.peele.net/faq/naltrexone.html I strongly suspect early
enthusiasm about naltrexone in alcoholism treatment will quickly fade.
This has already occurred in heroin addiction treatment, and especially
in the country (Australia) where its use was most quickly and widely
embraced (for use by general medical practitioners). Of course,
naltrexone has been used for decades in heroin treatment. There was
widespread enthusiasm for its generic use in Australia, and GPs were
given prescribing privileges for it. There has now been considerable
retrenchment. James Bell, in Australia, indicated, "We have enough
research in Australia to say Naltrexone is of limited value [for opiate
addicts].

Just a month ago I came back from Israel where Dr Andre Weisman the Dr
that INVENTED this method (It's called ANR) performed the procedure. He
came to Australia to teach the method, but left disappointed, because
our Drs wanted to make changes to it. Then they had the nerve to
"copy"what they half learnt, and called it "Rapid detox". BUT they do
not know how to perform the procedure here & they don't assess each
patient. ANR is a way where they "clean"your endorphins, then they
reproduce 60% of them! It is remarkable! And it DOES DEFINITELY work!!!
Dr Weisman does NOT believe in IMPLANTS!! Naltrexone should be taken
daily in tablet form. I believe all these deaths & fatalities are due to
implants that obviously release the wrong amount of the drug, or not
inserted correctly.. Who knows!
Wanna know more? Google ANR Clinic. And GIVE DR O'NEILL HIS FUNDING!!!!

Some doctors consider both CFS/ME and fibromyalgia to be autoimmune
diseases. Both have been connected with some autoantibodies and
fibromyalgia commonly occurs with some autoimmune illnesses (e.g. lupus
and rheumatoid arthritis), but there is no convincing evidence of an
autoimmune origin. Most medications used in autoimmune diseases are
useless, except for low dose naltrexone.

Naltrexone is a "non-scheduled" drug with no potential for abuse.
Therefore, it can be obtained with a prescription at any pharmacy.
