I lost all my teeth due to weak enamel, an early sugar habit, and bad (very bad) dentistry. I have had them replaced with titanium implant supported bridges. I have quite a few implants, both top and bottom. All the surgery was difficult, but once healed they have not given me one minute of trouble. Is there risk involved? Certainly, but I decided that the risk involved in NOT doing it was worse. You have to weigh your risks in life. Having a real expert in placing implants is the most important thing. I had a terrific periodontist to work with. By the way, I refused to do anything like nerve relocation or sinus lift. They love to do that stuff, but you don't really need it. I only take so many risks. You still have to clean and brush the implants to avoid biofilms, just like with regular teeth. It took a while to get used to the bridges, but they are much easier to adapt to than dentures, which I never considered doing. They only real damage that I suffered from all this was strictly financial. This stuff is EXPENSIVE! Many thousands of dollars of our savings. But you only live once, right, and I need to go on chewing.

I just met a vet last night at a Festival who I was telling about my dog's lupus recovery. She told me she used to be in so much pain in her back, I believe. She did acupuncture once, healed, and hooked. She went on to help dogs using acupuncture. If you haven't tried, like anything else in life--there are always good and bad practitioners. I am running against options for my teeth. I have SEVERAL crowns which never were a problem, but never wanted either. Weighed all options before a yes. Now I have big spaces obvious for pictures and crowns were put in about 3 years ago and some keep falling out. If dentist can't reglue I am running against options. I know having more front spaces is not very inviting as I plan to go out and meet people for business sake. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Bob Banever <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, August 22, 2010 10:25:32 PM Subject: Re: CS>OT: Implants-materials/kinds/questions to ask carol, There are no safe implants. ALL dental procedures have risks... BIG ONES. Every time you get an anesthetic injection you are risking a permanent paresthesia/dysesthesia (nerve damage to the lingual or IAN nerve) that is horrific... I suffer from lingual nerve damage so I know. The rest of my life is one of pain and suffering... burning pain to be exact. Not something you want if at all possible. History of bad teeth, several crowns got loose and today another one popped out into mouth and holding it. If he can't put this back in as it is always a challenge, here's questions: Kind of "safe" implants Questions to ask dentist What materials are good vs. bad for implants? This is ongoing problem-genetic vs. unhealthy eating. Frustrating as my dentist doesn't want to act like a traveling "dentist." Just when I think all is cool and I won't see him for a while I am back. carol, mom to the recovered LUPUS doggie, Molly..now 11...almost year since biopsy..progressive case...
