I live in LA and have heard through the grapevine that the fix is in and the judge is going to throw out the lawsuit. We'll see. Our only other recourse is to try to get a flouride referendum put on the ballot, which we are trying to do now. Los Angelenos have consistently rejected flouride by large margins in votes and public polls - and yet the city council snuck in and started flouridating this august. I've been doing what I can to help the battle because the more I read about it the more furious I get. The rich industry folks here can afford $400 dollar reverse osmosis water cleaners, but most people can't. And so, while industry finds another profitable market for their toxic waste, the poor or uninformed get to sit back and watch the rates of hip fractures in the elderly soar, the teeth of our children darken and become brittle -- and who knows what effects on cancer and neurological damage. I also read recently that flouride in the water increases our absorption of lead. This was discovered in a study that showed that criminality rises in communities with higher incidences of lead consumption. So maybe the exploiters will suffer too - but so indirectly that they'll never know that they are responsible. Sorry - I get so mad about this issue.
