40-50 drops seems excessive. I get complete clearing with 6 drops of 3% in a quart jar. It even worked for my super strength topical EIS.
I did try adding h2o2 to my EIS before 48 hrs one time and it got kind of muddy/cloudy and didn't clear. It is why I always wait at least 48 hrs now.
