I would suggest that anyone who has high blood pressure research the effects of Licorice Root on blood pressure first.

You can also stimulate the liver by chopping 2 medium organic (if possible) lemons. Put them in the blender with 2 cups of water and blend well. Strain (I like to get a good deal of the pulp in my drink as it help the process) and add 1/2 c virgin olive oil and blend the whole thing again. The lemon juice will emulsify the oil. Drink this first thing in the morning. You can sweeten with honey or stevia if you need to but I like it just the way it is. Do it every day for about 3-4 weeks and then every other day for perhaps another 3-4 weeks and continue spreading out the doses.

Personally I use 1 lemon with 1 cup of water as getting the whole thing down is a bit much before breakfast.

This is an excellent Spring tonic to clean out the liver after Winter.

Subject: CS>Infusion for Stimulation of the Liver

It's a good idea when experiancing a herxheimer reaction to stimulate the
liver. The following recipe is from Raymond Dextreit's book "Earth Cures". I translated from his old fashioned European measures into US measures. I use
this every spring to reduce my seasonal allergies. It's very tasty and all
the herbs are available in bulk on the net.

Infusion for Stimulation of the Liver

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons Horsetail
3 tablespoons Licorice Root
3 tablespoons Rosemary
3 tablespoons Woodruff
2 tablespoons Marigold
2 tablespoons Peppermint

Put 2 level tablespoons in 1 cup of boiling water. Remove from heat. Cover
and infuse for 15 minutes. Strain into mug. Take 1 cup after each meal. Can
be sweetened with honey if desired.
